Pride Celebrations
For decades, Unitarian Universalists (UUs) have actively supported full equality for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender (LGBT), and have affirmed and celebrated LGBT members of our congregations and communities. One powerful way to stand on the side of love with LGBT people is to join Unitarian Universalists everywhere in celebrating Pride.
History of Pride
Alternately known as “gay pride,” “LGBT pride,” or just “pride,” this celebration offers a space to affirm, celebrate, and be proud of sexual diversity and gender variance.
The origins of today’s Pride...

Every Child is Our Child Program
Did you know that more than 14 million children under 15 in Africa have lost one or both parents to AIDS?
Even more troubling, these children are slipping through the cracks—they remain largely unwanted, uneducated, and at a very high risk of being infected by the virus themselves. There is no social welfare system and no safety net for these children.
The Unitarian Universalist Association’s Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (UU-UNO) through its Every Child is Our Child Program (ECOC) helps these children reach their full potential by providing them with opportunities...

Vision for Unitarian Universalism
Unitarian Universalism has a long and storied history and many strong and vital ministries today. But if Unitarian Universalism is to thrive and grow in the years ahead, we must attend to the ways in which religious and spiritual life are evolving in our culture.
The world in which we live is increasingly multicultural, and therefore we are engaging with our congregations and other interested groups about the great potential of multiculturalism and the inherent challenges as well.
Changes in the world and in our congregations have led us to critically examine the role of...

REGISTRATION: All ministers in Preliminary Fellowship will be required to “register” with the Professional Development Office by September 1st each year. This is a process we have been asking of “First Year” ministers, but will now be expanded to all ministers in Preliminary Fellowship. The reason for this is so that our office will know who is currently working in a ministry that qualifies for renewal of fellowship. This will have implications for when you are expected to submit an application for renewal of...

General Assembly is for Everyone
General Assembly (GA) should be welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for people with disabilities. Our faith calls us to regard each human being with inherent worth and dignity. Our mutual goal is to find beauty in every face, the holy in every spirit, and to accept people as they are—in their infinite diversity—whether or not their inherent differences are stereotyped and discriminated against elsewhere. We look towards each person as having gifts to offer, inner strength, valued life experiences and the capacity to grow.
Unitarian Universalists have a history of fighting for justice....

Showing Films in Congregations
Planning to Show a Film?
You are legally and ethically required to follow public performance laws.
A movie that you rent or purchase is licensed only for private use in your home. You cannot show it in public without a public performance license. A public showing includes showing it at a children, youth, adult or multigenerational event, even if you do not charge admission .
There are some very narrowly defined “fair use” exceptions to the license requirement, but most congregational film showings do not meet those criteria.
The Motion Picture Association of America offers...

First, it's important to note that search engines these days do a pretty good job of showing search results relevant to what an individual is looking for. There's no need to try to "trick" the search engines into...

Review Your Site's Usability
Try to look at your congregation's website with fresh eyes, and ask yourself the following questions.

Is your mission statement clearly visible on your home page? Don't bury this basic information on an "About" page—be sure your home page answers the most obvious question about you. Also review this basic checklist to make sure your site has all the essentials covered.
